Ingrid Torrance is one of the supporting actors on Once Upon a Time, portraying the role of Nurse Ratched.


Life and Career

Torrance was born to Icelandic and Scottish parents and raised in North Vancouver. She is a Canadian actress and has had a variety of jobs in the field; acting instructor, producer, director and author. She has been a television and movie actor since 1994 and has been an acting teacher since 1995, as well as an on set and off set coach since 1998. Torrance is a voting member of the American Academy of Motion Pictures. In 1998, she was nominated as Best Actress for a Leo Award and in March, 2001, she was featured in Entertainment Weekly as a "Breakout Actress".

Her first professional acting role was in 1994 when she portrayed the role of Marissa Chaplin in one episode of Robin's Hood. Torrance is best known for her role as spokesperson for Her work as an acting coach began in 2004 when she coached budding actress Karina Lombard into starring in the 2005 film, The 4400. She continued this job up until 2009 where she coached Rafi Gavron for Life Unexpected.

In 2012, Torrance appeared in ABC's Once Upon a Time as a Severe Nurse, originally appearing in the show's 12th episode "Skin Deep". She has gone on to have a minor role in the show, appearing in several further episodes.
