I need my pain, it makes me who I am... It makes me Grumpy.

Grumpy is a supporting character on Once Upon a Time. A dwarf who, like all his peers, was hatched from an egg, Grumpy came into the fairytale world as Dreamy, an optimistic dwarf who stood out because of the romantic feelings he nurtured for the fairy Nova. However, his dream to be with her was smashed, and thus Dreamy became Grumpy. He became allies with the fair Snow White, and after the Dark Curse was enacted by the Evil Queen, Grumpy became trapped in Storybrooke, Maine as Leroy, the town drunk and one of the least reputable characters of his community.

Before the Curse

I'm a dwarf... I can't love.
Dreamy 114
Dreamy is given his pickaxe. ("Dreamy")

Nova the fairy is flying through the sky and accidentally drops some fairy dust that she collected from the dwarf mines, this fairy dust falls and lands upon an egg that hatches a dwarf. This dwarf is groomed and asks Bossy, the leader dwarf, about the woman he saw right before he hatched, but Bossy tells him that it must have been a dream. The dwarf is next taken to be named by his pickaxe, he picks it up and is given the name of Dreamy. Dreamy is later seen working in the mines as the fairy Nova is collecting dust. The machine begins to overflow and she can't pull the lever to make it stop, she calls for help and Dreamy runs to her aid, stopping the machine. She thanks him, taking a liking to the dwarf, before telling him of the fireflies on a hill she's going to that night before she delivers the dust, clearly implying an invitation, however, Dreamy merely tells her to have fun before leaving. Later, at a bar, Dreamy isn't feeling well and Belle, who's sitting behind him, tells him that the problem is in his heart: he's in love. Bossy refuses to believe this, saying that dwarfs can't love, but Dreamy continues to listen to Belle. She begins to give her verdict on love, saying that it's hope that fuels dreams, but Dreamy wonders why, if love is so great, he feels so bad. Belle tells him that he needs to be with the one that he loves, encouraging the dwarf to find his hope and to find his love. Dreamy takes this advice and meets Nova on the firefly hill, they watch the view together and decide that they must run away. Nova gives Dreamy a kiss before setting off to deliver her last basket of dust, excited about venturing out on her new life with Dreamy. ("Dreamy")

Dreamy 211
Dreamy gives Belle some fairy dust for her adventure. ("The Outsider")

Belle is sat in a tavern drinking a beer as a group of men listen to their leader tell tale of a beast that is ravaging nearby villages. He states that no man has been able to kill the beast, known as the Yaoguai, but assures them that they will. He then explains that there is room on his wagon, so asks who shall join him. Some of the men cheer to signal their support. Belle smiles at the men with a look of adventure on her face. Suddenly, Dreamy the dwarf approaches Belle and asks if she's looking for an adventure. Belle successfully recalls the dwarfs name and they both sit down together. Dreamy thanks Belle for her advice the night before, stating "it worked". He gleefully adds that he and Nova are running away together. A joyous Belle tells him that's wonderful, but then turns her attention back to the group of men. Dreamy suggests signing up for the hunt, but Belle tells him that despite dreaming of heroics, she thinks its safer to stick to her books as they're the only adventures she knows to have happy endings. Dreamy supposes this one could have one too, but Belle doubts this as she already faced a beast and it didn't end well. Dreamy asks what she's talking about, but before she can answer, the leader of the group tells his men to follow him. They then leave the tavern to begin their hunt for the Yaoguai. Dreamy tells Belle to get on the wagon, to take a chance. A curious Belle bites her lip and then prepares herself to leave. She thanks Dreamy, packs her book in her satchel and then begins to leave. As she walks away, Dreamy stops her and gives her fairy dust as it might come in handy. A nervous Belle declines the offer as she's seen what magic does to people, but Dreamy explains she's seen what dark magic does to people. He assures her that fairies use their dust for good and tells her to be a hero. Belle smiles and thanks Dreamy once more before running after the group, eager to join. Dreamy watches her, smiling as she leaves. ("The Outsider")

Dreamy breaks Nova's heart. ("Dreamy")

Stealthy does not understand, saying that he believed they were to live their lives in the mines, Dreamy says that he thought so too, but that love has shown him a different path. Sneezy hands him his pickaxe, saying he never knows when he might use it, but Dreamy doesn't accept the offer, saying he doesn't need it anymore. The dwarfs, besides Stealthy, all give Dreamy a hug goodbye. The dwarf is next seen heading through the woods where he is intercepted by Bossy, who tells him he can't go. Dreamy argues that he is in love, but Bossy reminds him that he is not capable. The Blue Fairy arrives also to warn him that if he is to proceed in running away with Nova, the latter will lose her wings. She tells him that the choice is his. Dreamy meets Nova at the same hill as before and she shows him the sailboat she has acquired for their adventures. However, Dreamy tells the fairy that he cannot go with her as he will be stopping her from fulfilling her dream, breaking her heart. Dreamy leaves Nova, the both of them devastated. ("Dreamy") Grumpy feels the need to be with Nova once more and so trades in his savings for a beautiful necklace to give to her, however, it turns out the necklace is stolen from King George and so the king's men arrest Grumpy, thinking he is the thief, and throw him in a cell in his dungeon. Soon enough, Stealthy the dwarf walks down to the dungeon and frees Grumpy, Snow wishes him luck with his love, and, feeling sorry for her, Grumpy frees the princess too. She suggests that they escape via the stairs but Stealthy tells her that they should cut through the courtyard which is clear now, but won't be for much longer. Grumpy apologizes to Snow, saying that Stealthy's gotten him this far, before following him to the courtyard. When there, the two dwarfs are apprehended by King George's knights, Stealthy tells Grumpy to run, but only he does, and he's shot in the chest by an arrow. Grumpy runs to his friend's aid but it's too late, he's dead. King George orders for Grumpy to be killed but Snow White arrives on the scene and threatens to burn the castle down by holding her flaming torch to a pile of straw, if Grumpy is not let go. Knowing she is not bluffing, King George obliges to her request and the dwarf is freed. As she leaves the palace, Snow White becomes accompanied by Grumpy and the other six dwarfs. Snow agrees and somehow draws the conclusion that she must kill Queen Regina. Grumpy finds the princess after she's attacked the soldier for information and weapons and insists that she return to Rumplestiltskin in order to get him to reverse whatever it is the potion he gave her did to her. When inside, Rumple tells the dwarf and the princess that the dwarf is irreversible and Snow then asks if he has anything that will help her kill the Queen, Rumple gives her a bow and arrow that never misses. Snow White later returns to the dwarfs, having regained her memory via true love's kiss, and tells them that King George's men have taken Prince Charming. He looks at her, with a melancholic gaze, and orders the dwarfs to open the casket. Grumpy tells him "I'm sorry, she's gone", but a teary-eyed Prince begs him to at least allow him to say goodbye. The depressed dwarfs remove the glass top of the coffin, and the prince leans down for a kiss. When he kisses her, waves of magic are spread through the air, and the area, that was dark and slowly being covered with snow, is filled with light and life. Snow White opens her eyes and gasps, as though she's finally breathing again, and as she recuperates consciousness, she turns the prince, recognizes him and says "You... you found me."; he asks her if she ever doubted he would. Later, Snow is more inclined to living in exile, which is supported by the dwarfs, but Charming doesn't agree. This leads Grumpy and the dwarfs to accuse him of being a gold-digger who's only interested in Snow for her crown. Despite Charming denying this, the dwarfs stick to their guns. When it comes time for Snow to make the deal with Regina, she refuses thanks to the new confidence instilled into her by Charming, and the Queen assures the princess that she shall see her on the battlefield. Snow's heart is delivered as a birthday present to Regina, and the Evil Queen takes great pleasure in watching Snow writhe in pain as she squeezes it. The meeting is attended by these two, Snow White, Red and Granny, the Blue Fairy, Grumpy and Sneezy, and three unidentified knights. Grumpy suggests letting him spend five minutes alone with her and his axe... and he then asks if she's still restrained, just in case. The Blue Fairy confirms this, but adds that the magic that they used to capture her will only keep her powerless for a short while. Granny, who is seen knitting, suggests that they banish her to another realm, to which Jiminy replies that they can't, for it would be unconscionable to condemn another realm to the suffering that they've endured. Red agrees with the talking cricket, pointing out that the Queen is their problem and they have to deal with her. Charming stands up from his seat and tells them that only one thing is certain: as long as the Queen lives, the kingdom is in danger. "Are you saying...?" Snow starts to ask. The entourage discover him, with Snow's handmaiden Charlotte fixing him up, little do they know that he's actually the Count of Monte Cristo hired by the Queen to assassinate the royal couple. Emma looks curiously at the surveillance tape and walks over to it, "We're looking at the wrong tape, this is the ward where Henry's class put up decorations, if this was really the tape from last night, we'd see the banners the kids hung." "You fell asleep again," Leroy says to Walter. "You selling me out?" Walter asks. "I ain't getting fired for this!" Leroy exclaims. "At least I don't drink on the job!" Walter retorts, Graham cuts off the argument and asks them where the real tape is. They are aided by David Nolan who helps them mine, wanting to use the dust to help Mary Margaret and Emma return home. The dwarfs' mines are later used as a means of making Belle cross the line when she is locked into a mine-cart and sent to the border. Suddenly, he breaks through the rock and falls into a hidden cave. All the dwarfs look down to check if he’s alright. He is, and there is good news, they found diamonds. He is silent and merely looks upwards, Ruby tries to ask him what the emergency is before looking up also, shining her flashlight on the mine ceiling to reveal that all of the magical diamonds are gone. "They're gone," says Leroy in a saddened tone. "They're all gone," he finishes. The two of them shine their torches around the ceiling but there is no trace of diamond. Ruby and the dwarfs soon configure that the culprits are Regina and Gold and head to the latter's pawn shop to find them, but all who is there is Henry (who's reading to Charming who has been put under a sleeping curse), who they warn of Regina's betrayal. Later, Mary Margaret and Emma return to Storybrooke via portal after Regina helps them, and the former runs to the pawn shop to kiss David. Leroy and the rest of the guests are then shocked when Regina walks in and even more shocked when they learn that Emma invited her. She soon offers Leroy some lasagna and he asks her what the secret ingredient is, wondering if it's poison. However, Regina tells him that it's actually red pepper flakes which give it some kick. Leroy scowls at the Evil Queen but eats her lasagna nonetheless. ("The Cricket Game")

They are confused and he amends himself by asking when they're going back to the Enchanted Forest, their home. Mary Margaret is surprised that he wants to go back and Emma adds that she and her mother fought really hard to get to Storybrooke. Leroy goes on to add that there is a whole entire world full of normal people who don't know who or what they are, asking the princesses what they think will happen if one of those people is to pay them a visit. Ruby adds to this by asking what would happen of an outsider where to see magic (like a girl turning into a wolf for example). An outsider crashes into town and is taken to hospital and Leroy, along with David, Mary Margaret and Ruby, try to hack into his phone. David asks Leroy if he knows how to do it but the dwarf reminds the prince that phone hacking and pickaxe hacking are not the same thing. Emma comes along and does this with ease, learning that his name is Greg Mendell and that he's completely ordinary, this is not aided by the fact that Mr. Gold tells them that he saw him throwing some magic. It is suggested that they let him die so that he can't tell anyone of Storybrooke and what it holds, and everyone but Leroy is against this as he believes it'll be like in the movies where the real world discover something magical and study it to death. The Charmings tell Dr. Whale to go through with the surgery, deciding that they will worry about the fate of the town after saving a life, despite Leroy's argument. Mary Margaret later asks if the surgery's almost over, however, Emma learns that it hasn't even begun yet as Dr. Whale has fled the hospital. Ruby is tasked with sniffing him out and soon returns him where he performs the surgery. Greg is said to make a full recovery, but Leroy is still wary about this, telling them that it can only bring bad news. ("In the Name of the Brother")

Mary Margaret opens the cage and sets Anton free, however, when he sees David, he becomes rather murderous and attacks the prince. Mary Margaret pulls out her bow and arrow on the giant and he flee. Leroy next heads down to Granny's Diner with the royal couple as they discuss why Anton hates David so much, the prince soon deciphers that he doesn't hate him, he hates his brother, Prince James. The three of them walk outside and are shocked to discover Anton, now in his fully-grown form, is terrorizing the town. They start running away and Leroy, confused, says he thought David's name was James, but David says that that was his brother's name. Leroy then asks if his name is Charming, but Mary Margaret states that that's a nickname she gave him. David then reveals that his name is just that - David, the same as his cursed name. Leroy, confused, exclaims that he will just call the prince whatever he damn well pleases, and continues to run. Realizing that they'll soon be approaching the town line, the three of them stop and David attempts to negotiate with the giant, offering his life in exchange for the town's safety. Anton takes this offer and jumps towards David, making a hole in the ground, however, the magic keeping him big wheres off and Anton is returned to human-sized and hanging from a sewer pipe within the pit he has created. David manages to save him and earns Anton's trust and he reveals that he has a plant that will be able to grow magic beans, Leroy and the other dwarfs agree to help farm the plant alongside Anton, Leroy hands him a pickaxe which names him "Tiny". Anton is very happy to see Emma and they begin to converse, but soon enough, Leroy approaches them and tells the former giant to "quit lollygagging" as they have work to do. Leroy returns to the crops, as does Anton, who notes how much dwarfs love to work. Later, David, Mary Margaret, Anton and the dwarfs pull up outside Granny's Diner. They hop off the truck after a hard day of work before heading inside, where Leroy says that Tiny's buying. Anton is surprised by this and Leroy tells him that new guy always buys, despite Anton saying that he hasn't any money as they head inside. Leroy 220
Someone burned the beans. ("The Evil Queen")

After Regina discovers the rows of growing magic beans beyond the invisible barrier, she takes a sample for herself and totally destroys the rest, trying to prevent the rest of Storybrooke from returning to the Enchanted Forest. Later, Leroy, Mary Margaret and David pull up outside the invisible barrier, and as they walk over to the beans that they have not yet discovered are ruined, David says that they will need Leroy's help when they return home repairing their castle. Leroy appears happy to help, asking if it's just minor damage or a total tear-down, but Mary Margaret quickly tells him it's a "burn-down", before the three of them step through the barrier. Due to the fact that the curse's fail-safe has now been activated and they're all on the way to the grave, he presumes that they are looters, but Leroy points out that it's now looting if you're taking back what already belongs to him. He finds Sneezy's old stein on a shelf and fills it with a blue potion that will be able to restore his memories when drunk from something that he treasures. Leroy explains that Mother Superior has been working on the potion all along and that sh finally cracked it when she took a hair from young Pinocchio - someone unaffected by the curse. Sneezy is unsure about getting his memories back as he knows he might die, but he is escorted outside by the dwarfs where he presumably regains his fairytale identity. Meanwhile, in the store, Leroy gives an extra dose of the potion to Mr. Gold, telling him to give it to Belle, saying that she helped him once and he wants to return the favor, begging him not to let her die as Lacey. Later on, Grumpy and his fellow dwarfs are gathered at Granny's Diner as they and a group of people prepare to return to the Enchanted Forest to escape the fail safe's destruction. However, their plan soon changes when they all agree and convince Emma to send the fail safe through a portal after learning that Regina is sacrificing her life for everyone. Leroy, along with the other dwarfs, Mother Superior, Archie and multiple other members of the town, are celebrating through the streets after the near-apocalypse brought by Greg and Tamara is ended by the Charmings. However, they soon come across a saddened Belle, who reveals that the same evil duo kidnapped Henry and took him through a portal and Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Regina, Gold and Hook followed them in the latter's ship. They wonder why Belle was left behind, and she says that they had to, revealing that Rumple gave her a cloaking spell to cast on the town in order to stop others like Greg and Tamara from finding them. The townspeople then head down into the mines where Leroy and the dwarfs use their pick axes in order to discover a vein of magic diamond in the rocks. They are able to do so, and Belle pours the potion over said diamonds, meaning its magic is spread through the entire town, casting a protective bubble over it. Five days later, Leroy, Happy, Doc, Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy and Dopey are sitting at the beach eating lunch and discussing how quiet life in Storybrooke has been ever since Snow and Charming left. They comment that this is the longest amount of time without any sort of disastrous or overly-strange event, and almost on queue, a mermaid named Ariel emerges from the waters. She applies a magical bracelet, which gives her legs, and is approached by Leroy. She introduces herself and asks the dwarf if he knows where she can find a person named Belle; Grumpy nods, and shows her the way. When Ariel leaves Storybrooke, it is with a magical object that should be able to help Rumpelstiltskin and the others defeat Peter Pan, who has Henry captive. ("Dark Hollow")

Leroy 310
You never know, could be your last day on Earth. ("The New Neverland")

Leroy, and all the other members of the town, are shocked and happy to see the Jolly Roger flying towards Storybrooke, bringing with it the likes of Henry, Emma, Snow, Charming and all others who ventured out to Neverland, along with a few new arrivals. He happily reunites with all those aboard and later heads to Granny's Diner in order to celebrate. The Blue Fairy, who the dwarf was earlier seen conversing with, is soon murdered by the shadow, meaning Peter Pan is still at large. Soon enough, Leroy, along with every other townsperson, is later put under threat when Pan, who's grafted himself into Henry's body, steals the Dark Curse from Regina's vault that's capable of wiping the minds of every Storybrooke resident all over again. ("The New Neverland")

Leroy 311
Leroy warns the townspeople that the curse is coming from all sides. ("Going Home")

Leroy is the first to notice the curse's activation and runs through town, alerting those who will listen that "it's here" and is coming from all sides, meaning there's no escape. But luckily, should Regina tear the original curse scroll, everyone will be sent back to the Enchanted Forest. Unluckily, this will come at a price. Regina is forced to forever give up Henry in order to do this, and as the curse approaches, Leroy heads to the town line with the others where Henry leaves town with Emma (who's able to leave because she's the savior). It is explained that when the curse strikes, Storybrooke will be wiped from history as well as Emma and Henry's memories, so Regina gives them new ones, making them think she never gave him up for adoption. They then drive out of town and Regina is able to tear the curse scroll, using its magic to turn the green mist purple and transport everyone back to their home in the Enchanted Forest when they're enveloped. ("Going Home")

Grumpy 312
Grumpy receives a message from Jiminy. ("New York City Serenade")

Jiminy Cricket, now an actual cricket again, soon flies up onto Grumpy's shoulder and begins chirping into his ear, telling him that more and more residents of Storybrooke are emerging all over the land. Grumpy is happy to hear this and relays the information to Prince Charming, who soon decrees that they are to begin heading to Regina's old palace, for it has remained untouched by the original curse. When they finally make it there, however, they are surprised to discover that a protection spell has been cast around it - not one of Regina's making - meaning someone has taken up residence inside. ("New York City Serenade")

Grumpy 313
Grumpy talks witches. ("Witch Hunt")

Still outside Regina's palace, Grumpy witnesses another attack make by a flying monkey, which is defeated by the Evil Queen and allows them enough time to identify the creature, leading them to realize that the foe they're dealing with is the Wicked Witch. Grumpy wonders if they're dealing with the witch of the East or West, and Snow wonders what the difference is, pointing out that they both sound bad; Grumpy then tells the princess that one you drop a house on whereas you throw a bucket of water at the other. This comment is apparently unhelpful and Grumpy simply sits by as Regina and Robin Hood head into the palace in order to disarm the protection spell, which still stands strong. He watches through a telescope as the shield goes down and alerts the others, leading Charming to order everyone inside whilst Zelena, the witch, vacates the premises on her flying broomstick. Grumpy 319
Grumpy ain't stupid. ("A Curious Thing")

Eight months after Snow White's pregnancy is discovered, Grumpy sits on the royal council as it's discussed what shall be done about the threat Zelena poses to the unborn child. When Snow points out how similar this situation is to the build up of the first curse, Regina points out that she was going after Snow, not her child, and anyone else who got harmed was simply collateral damage. Grumpy wonders again why they forgave the Evil Queen, and she points out that she's helping, suggesting that they gain help from Rumplestiltskin like they did the last time. Grumpy asks if they're seriously considering breaking into the Dark One's castle where the Wicked Witch is holding him prisoner, saying that his name's Grumpy, not "Stupid", but this is ultimately what the royals decide to do. When it's realized that only the light magic that resides within Emma Swan can defeat Zelena, Snow, Charming and Regina cast another Dark Curse over the Enchanted Forest in order to reunite with her. However, due to the witch's tampering, they do not remember what they set out to do, unlike her. ("A Curious Thing")

He attends the meeting at the town hall the next day after discovering that flying monkeys are responsible for the disappearances and are kidnapping anyone who crosses the town line; he is saddened that this is what happened to his brothers and worries for them. When Regina shows up, Leroy publicly accuses her of casting the new curse, for she is the one who did it before, but the Evil Queen denies everything. When the townspeople refuse her plea of innocence, she angrily causes an earthquake with her magic and teleports out of the place, leading Grumpy to say to himself that he knew she was guilty. However, this was a ploy put on by Emma and Regina to buy them time to find the real culprit; they try to make a memory potion, but it fails, and so they decide to get the word out that they're close to perfecting it, thus making the culprit try to stop them and reveal themselves. Regina says she knows exactly who to tell, and Leroy is soon seen telling everyone in Granny's Diner the news that the potion is close to being cracked. Zelena destroys the potion supply, but escapes the office before she is caught; when the creatures taking townspeople are identified as flying monkeys, it is realized that they're dealing with the Wicked Witch of the West. However, he takes the keys she gave him for the room to try and get into her car. Leroy is the first to see the Wicked Witch coming when she arrives and rushes to warn people, however, their defense tactics are futile and Zelena ends up stealing the Charming baby anyway. Ultimately, her plan fails and she is made powerless, allowing for the baby to be returned to his mother, however, that night, after Zelena's death at the hands of the now free Rumplestiltskin, the magic from her pendant leaks out and causes her time travel spell to enact. ("Kansas")

Leroy 321
Leroy jokes about Aurora. ("Snow Drifts")

Leroy attends the coronation at Granny's Diner where the name of Snow and Charming's newborn son is to be announced. He is seen talking with Granny, and confirms that the Wicked Witch is indeed taken care of, commenting that it's a good thing because if that sleeping beauty - Aurora - was a monkey a day longer, she would have given birth to a monkey baby. Granny laughs, and Leroy comments further that he wouldn't want to be changing those diapers. Meanwhile, Emma is provoked into leaving when a comment is made by Hook, and everyone soon becomes distracted when it's realized that Zelena's time portal is open, having been activated by her pendant upon her death. Snow then says it's an honor to introduce everyone to her son, Prince Neal. Leroy and the others clap, knowing that Neal Cassidy gave his own life to expose the Wicked Witch of the West, and remain at the diner as the celebrations continue late into the night. Elsa marks her territory. ("A Tale of Two Sisters")

Walter drives Leroy home following Prince Neal's coronation celebration at Granny's Diner, but he falls asleep at the wheel and causes the vehicle to swerve out of control. It begins heading for the town's newest arrival - Elsa, the Ice Queen - who freezes the car with her ice magic. The next day, Leroy goes running through town telling people of this new threat, giving Emma and Hook the idea to follow the ice trail that Elsa's left behind. Just as they're about to find her, however, she whips up a giant snow monster to fend them off. The monster then begins rampaging through town, much to Leroy's fright, and he begins riling everyone up and making the situation more hectic. The creature then heads into the woods where it's melted by Regina. ("A Tale of Two Sisters")

Leroy 402
Grumpy buys ice scream from a questionable someone. ("White Out")

Elsa, the Ice Queen, decides that no one is leaving town until she finds her sister, Anna, and so she erects an ice wall around the perimeter of Storybrooke and unintentionally cuts off all the electricity as she does so. With David and Emma off dealing with the ice threat, Grumpy, Granny and Happy head over to Mary Margaret's place in order to goad her into getting the power back on, pointing out that they helped her take back the kingdom and she cast the new curse, so Storybrooke is her kingdom now and she has to rule it. At the local power station, Snow struggles to accomplish anything and yells at her apparent royal subjects when they complain at her, causing them to storm off and leave. When baby Neal needs feeding, Mary Margaret gets the idea that the reason the power isn't turning back on is because fuel is needed, and so she follows the fuel pipe and manages to turn it on, thus restoring electricity to the town. The next day, Grumpy is seen purchasing ice cream from a store called Any Given Sundae, but it becomes apparent after he leaves that the Ice Cream Vendor possesses the same powers as Elsa and is in fact the one who's preventing the ice wall from melting. ("White Out")

Leroy 403
Grumpy is loud. ("Rocky Road")

As Mayor, Mary Margaret decides to host her very first fireside chat in what used to be Regina's office. Leroy is in attendance and becomes aggravated when the ice wall isn't the first item on the agenda, and even more so to learn that it surrounds the whole of Storybrooke. This causes a lot of ruckus and he begins to fear the person who made it, believing Elsa to have malicious intentions; these beliefs are heightened when Marian collapses due to some sort of ice-based magic curse. Emma and David, who believe Elsa to be innocent, begin investigating who the real culprit is, whilst Grumpy riles up the townspeople into thinking that Elsa needs to be punished. However, it's soon proven to be the Snow Queen who's caused all this, having been posing as the local ice cream shop owner for quite some time. ("Rocky Road")

Leroy 409
Munchkins reading maps. ("Fall")

The Snow Queen succeeds at casting her dreaded spell of Shattered Sight, which begins spreading across Storybrooke in the form of a magic storm cloud that will begin to rain glass come sundown and make it so all the citizens turn against one another. When Elsa finds her sister's necklace, she and Emma use a locator spell on it and follow it into the mines in hopes of finding Anna, but they are unable to due to her being on the other side of a wall of rock. Leroy and the other dwarfs could perhaps get through it in a couple of hours, but Regina points out that they don't have a couple of hours, saying that it will be sundown before Leroy and "the munchkins" finish. He reminds her that he's a dwarf, not a munchkin, but she doesn't care. A full search of the mines could take days, whereas he necklace can be used by the fairies to counteract the Shattered Sight spell due to their being fragments of the Snow Queen's mirror embedded in the metal, however, they'd have to destroy it in order to do so, thus destroying any hopes of finding Anna along with it. All fails when the fairies mysteriously disappear, and the spell of Shattered Sight soon successfully rains down on Storybrooke. ("Fall")

Leroy 410
The spell is broken. ("Shattered Sight")

With the spell of Shattered Sight complete, the seven dwarfs, as well as Granny, can be seen brawling with one another in the center of town; Grumpy specifically is seen being chased by Happy, who's wielding a crossbow, and one of its arrows just barely misses the Snow Queen as she walks by and smiles at what she has accomplished, but later she sacrifices herself in order to break the spell, and this falls down on Storybrooke in the form of snow. When the spell is obliterated totally, Grumpy is seen laughing with Happy, now thinking the fact that he tried to kill him with a crossbow hilarious, while the rest of the townspeople can be seen making up with one another, joyous for their sight no longer being shattered. Snow is disheartened to be reminded of this and lets Isaac live, with him telling her that if she wants her happy ending then she needs to kill both Regina and a boy new to this land who wishes to stop him (Henry). Later, Regina tries robbing Snow's tax carriage, only to find the Queen herself hiding inside. The bandit is quickly disarmed, and Snow holds out on ripping her heart out by asking her about the boy, whom Regina refuses to address. Following a brief conversation, Snow uses her magic to make a fireball, ready to burn her nemesis where she stands... but then Robin Hood's arrow hits the carriage door beside her, and thanks to him Regina is able to escape. The dwarfs, along with Granny, are quite disturbed by this, and Grumpy goes with the Queen to help apprehend Henry. He fails, however, because Emma knocks him back, threatening to change his name to "Stumpy", and later Henry becomes the new Author and writes everyone back into the real world. Isaac tries leaving Storybrooke in a car, but Mary Margaret and David soon catch up to and confront him. He reveals his hatred for all heroes, hence why he had them kidnap Maleficent's child, and Mary Margaret finds this pitiable before she and her husband arrest him. Celebrations are had, but then Belle crashes the party and warns everyone that Rumple is dying, and they're all in danger because of it. The hat is used to extract the Dark One from his heart, but it's soon able to escape and attempts taking over Regina. Not wanting this to happen, Emma uses the dagger to tether the darkness to her own soul. Leroy 501
Leroy wants to tag along. ("The Dark Swan")

With Emma having become the new Dark One and vanished to the Enchanted Forest, Regina tricks her sister Zelena into using the Apprentice's wand to summon a portal that will help them find her. The portal hits Storybrooke in the form of a cyclone, and Leroy, Doc and Happy burst into Granny's Diner to warn all those inside that a twister is on the horizon. He is shocked to learn that Snow and the others are already aware of it, and are in fact preparing to travel via it, and Leroy asks if they can come to because they always seem to get sidelined during adventures or simply never get invited to come along in the first place. Mary Margaret would be honored to have them aboard, and the whole of Granny's is soon carried off to where Emma is. She's about to succumb to the darkness and kill the warrior princess Merida, but her loved ones are able to stop her and bring her back to Granny's in the woods. Thanks, Leroy. Would, uh... would you care to dance?
Grumpy 502
Grumpy hits on Belle. ("The Price")

Leroy and the others are welcomed into Camelot and told by King Arthur that the fact that their arrival was prophesied means that plenty of time was had to prepare a ball in their honor. Granny is happy to attend any party that she doesn't have to cater, as is Leroy, and that night everyone seems to be having fun - except Belle, that is, who laments by one of the ballroom's banisters with her enchanted rose rested on it. Some of the petals have fallen now, meaning that Gold's life force is slipping away, and Leroy decides to approach her, asking if she knows what he thinks the rose represents: hope. This confuses her, for every petal that drops means her husband is closer to death, but Grumpy prefers to think that every petal which remains means her husband can still be saved, which succeeds in cheering her up. She asks if he'd like to dance, and he obliges. Things soon get out of hand when Sir Percival attacks Regina, who's been posing as the savior, and is subsequently killed by Charming in self defense. Robin is injured in the struggle and Emma has to use dark magic in order to heal him. ("The Price")

Hook rises from the Vault of the Dark One, having now gone through the full transformation from the man he once was into a second Dark One, thanks to something Emma did to save his life. With the voice of Rumplestiltskin now in his head, guiding him to the darkness, he soon reunites with Emma who tries her best to keep him near the light long enough for Merlin to cure them both. However, Hook loses all trust for her when she withholds Excalibur from him, thus driving him to full-on embracing his dark side, leading him to plot recasting the Dark Curse so he can get back to Rumple and finally have his revenge. He has Excalibur implanted back into stone, and with Nimue living on inside of him, he is able to crush Merlin's heart to enact the curse. However, Emma is able to wipe his memory of all that has happened, and before the curse is fully cast she is able to make everyone else who journeyed to Camelot appear unconscious in the diner, Leroy included, and uses dreamcatchers to wipe all of their memories too. From there, they are all sent back to Storybrooke. ("Broken Heart")

After the Third Curse

Season 5

Looks like just another insult for us to swallow down. For now.
Grumpy 501
Grumpy has as much memories as he does hair. ("The Dark Swan")

After spending a total of six weeks away in Camelot, Leroy and the others who were sent to said realm in Granny's Diner are abruptly returned to Storybrooke. Sleepy and Sneezy, the latter of which has been working as the town's sheriff, even having gone as far as to start sporting Emma's signature red leather jacket, overhear the diner's crash landing and so go to check it out. They're shocked to discover everyone has returned, but Leroy and the others have zero memory of anything that has happened since entering into Camelot for the first time. The two dwarfs reveal they've all been gone a total of six weeks, and Emma's parents wonder where she is. She soon makes herself known, appearing to be responsible for their return, as well as everyone's loss of memories. She now looks how a Dark One would be expected to look, and Mary Margaret asks what happened to her. Emma, who proceeds to turn Sneezy to stone for wearing her jacket, wonders if it's not obvious, recalling that they all came to remove the darkness from her... and they failed. Now they have to pay. When asked why, Emma simply states that it's because she is the Dark One, before disappearing. ("The Dark Swan")

Leroy 502
Leroy concedes that Regina really is the new savior. ("The Price")

Leroy and the other dwarfs decide to leave town, no longer feeling safe in Storybrooke now that Emma, formerly their greatest hero, is dark. Dopey is selected to test what happens when the town line is crossed, but Regina, Snow and Charming show up in the sheriff's car to stop them from going. They're too late, however, for Dopey steps over the line anyway... and becomes a tree. The dwarfs retreat back into the town, lamenting over the loss of Dopey and wondering how to help him, where they encounter King Arthur and his knights. Grumpy and Happy try battling them with their pickaxes but fail, then bringing them to the town leaders. A Fury soon abducts Robin Hood and, wanting to be seen as the savior, Regina takes it upon herself to defeat it. It needs a life, and when it starts to latch onto hers, Mary Margaret takes her hand, and then David, and, before Arthur follows suit, Leroy is next. Them banding together like this defeats the Fury, and Leroy concedes that if anyone is going to protect this town then it's Regina, having been skeptical before. Later, she uses her magic to return Sneezy from stone. ("The Price")

Leroy 503
Leroy demands that something be done about Emma. ("Siege Perilous")

Leroy and the other dwarfs are whistling as they work down in the mines, and Grumpy reminds his brethren that they have to work extra hard for Dopey, since he himself can't contribute to the team effort. It is then that the darkened Emma appears, giving them all a fright, and they refuse her access to any of the magic hidden within the mine walls. She explains that she's not shopping for magic, but rather an axe. She proceeds to steal Happy's, to his dismay, which leads to all six remaining dwarfs barging into the sheriff's station. Seeing dwarfs as Snow White's department, Regina leaves her and Charming to deal with them, and Leroy explains to his old leaders what happened. He says that they have to do something about Emma, or else he and the others will; Mary Margaret orders him not the hurt her, but David tells her not to worry, for they can't. Leroy tells the prince to stop playing the concerned parent and start being their sheriff again, as is what they need, and David tells him that they'll get the axe back if they can, but until then there's nothing they can do. Leroy takes this as just another insult that they have to swallow down... for now. ("Siege Perilous")

Dwarfs 511
The dwarfs are swarmed. ("Swan Song")

Grumpy and the others overhear that there's more than one Dark One, learning both that Hook now poses a threat to them and that he's resurrected every past Dark One via Storybrooke's own portal to the Underworld. With cloaked figures roaming town, the six dwarfs are ambushed after having split up from the others to search for the villainous pirate, and they find themselves marked. Mr. Gold explains that this means they will be pulled down to the Underworld in the Dark Ones' stead and tortured eternally, along with the likes of Snow, Charming, Henry, Robin and Regina, all of whom have been marked too with the mark of the Charon. However, this fate is ultimately avoided when the darkness is destroyed by Emma; after Hook absorbs it all, she stabs him with Excalibur, killing both him and the darkness for good. At least, that's what they think, for in fact Gold has redirected it into himself. Not wanting Killian's sacrifice to be in vain, Emma and the others head to the Underworld to save his soul. ("Swan Song")

Leroy 514
Gold spies on Belle, and also Leroy and Granny. ("Devil's Due")

While in the Underworld, which looks just like a demented version of Storybrooke, Peter Pan leaves the pawn shop under his son Rumple's care, leaving him a note along with a few ingredients that should allow him to perform a spell to see who he wants to see. He uses an eyeball and a bubbling potion within a cauldron to birth a crystal ball from magic, then telling it to show him who he intends to check upon. Through the crystal ball, he sees Belle, having a meal at Granny's Diner. Leroy is with her, eating pancakes while Granny serves the two of them. Something about this shocks Rumple to his very core, so much so that he drops the crystal ball and it smashes on the floor. This is because he wanted it to show him his child, Neal, but it showed him Belle... meaning she must be pregnant. ("Devil's Due")

Dwarfs 521
The townspeople attend Robin's funeral. ("Last Rites")

The heroes are back from the Underworld but all isn't well: Hades is loose in Storybrooke and intent on ruling it alongside a redeemed but duped Zelena, all by the use of the Olympian Crystal, the only weapon capable of killing a God. It makes it so that the person whose beam it hits experiences no afterlife; they don't go to the Underworld or ascend Mount Olympus, but are simply wiped out of existence permanently with no hope of revival. As such, when it strikes Robin Hood, Regina is understandably devastated. While this does prompt Zelena to come to her senses and run Hades through with his own weapon, Robin remains forever gone, and a funeral is held for him the following day. Leroy and the other dwarfs are all in attendance, with everyone placing a flower-decorated arrow on the archer's coffin as a symbol of their shared remembrance. ("Last Rites")

Dwarfs 522
And then his wake. ("Only You")

Following the funeral of Robin Hood, a wake is held in his honor over at Granny's Diner, and a multitude of townspeople - including Leroy and the rest of the dwarfs - are in attendance while everyone goes out of their way to try and comfort the grieving Regina. It isn't long before everyone's interrupted by a new crisis of course, with Mr. Gold tethering the town's magic to the Olympian Crystal so that he can wake Belle from her sleeping curse, though the heroes fear what else he might do with such power. The wake is also interrupted by the arrival of Hook, who's been resurrected as a reward from Zeus for helping defeat Hades. This comes as quite a blow for Regina, who has to watch Emma reunited with her love while she's just lost hers. Still though, they get on with solving the next crisis, and also with getting all the Camelot folk home successfully. ("Only You")

Season 6

Leroy 603
Leroy enforces Lady Tremaine's fitting punishment. ("The Other Shoe")

Leroy attends one of his regular therapy sessions with Archie over at the latter's office, right in the middle of sitting down and talking when Emma barges in wanting to talk to the cricket about her own issues. Archie assures that it's okay, for he and Leroy are pretty much done, but Leroy points out that he paid for the whole hour and he hasn't even begun to sort through all his issues at work yet. He complains about the fact that he's toiling down in the mines while Dopey is off getting his masters and flirting with co-eds; Emma then comments that she thought Dopey was still a tree, only for Grumpy to reveal that they got him out weeks ago and that they can't always sit around and wait for the savior to help them. With that, he leaves Emma to her session, but later is hired to enforce the community service of Lady Tremaine following the attempted murder of Ashley. He supervises her, dressed in her new orange jumpsuit, as she picks up trash on the side of the road. He tells her to put some back into it while the heroes bask nearby in the villain's humiliating defeat. ("The Other Shoe")

Leroy 604
Grumpy tries, in vain, to stand up to the Queen. ("Strange Case")

While Dr. Jekyll works on a serum that should be able to defeat the Evil Queen, who's become a separate entity, the dwarfs are around to help, and Leroy grows enraged when Jekyll requests that he go to Granny's Diner and pick him up some lunch. He says how dwarfs aren't errand boys, but the doctor claims that it would help him think, and so Leroy says that it better before going and getting the food. When he returns with it, he is less than happy to have been treated in such a manner, going on to explain how dwarfs are more important that menial tasks because they are protectors of the realm and guard the kingdom against evil. However, the Evil Queen proceeds to arrive and all Grumpy and Doc can do is panic. To Grumpy's credit, he does attempt to approach her with his pick ax in tow, but that doesn't stop the Queen from using her magic to make them both instantly fall unconscious. The whole situation ends in bloodshed when Jekyll dies, and rightfully so since he was trying to kill Belle, thus killing Hyde too. ("Strange Case")

Leroy 610
Leroy delivers the Evil Queen. ("Wish You Were Here")

Leroy phones David to tell him of an Evil Queen sighting on Main Street, and he later sees her there again as she's taking a stroll through town, commenting on how it's actually tolerable when the peasantry - meaning dwarfs, as they emerge from the diner - is hidden away. Leroy and Sneezy first grow scared at the sight of the Queen, but then something else manages to outmatch that fear: a portal opening in the diner behind them. Leroy begins running and screaming, yelling that they've been "portaled", and then a figure in a hood emerges - the one from Emma's visions, who is fated to kill her - and uses his magic to turn the Evil Queen into a snake in a cage. Leroy picks up this cage and delivers it to David along with the news of what occurred, and he begins to fret about his daughter's killer now being loose in Storybrooke. ("Wish You Were Here")

Leroy 617
Grumpy partakes in sharing the Charmings' curse. ("Awake")

Snow and David remain affected by their shared sleeping curse, only now it's worse, because one of Regina's risky attempts to break it - and thus undo yet another mess left behind by the now redeemed and off-world Evil Queen - has resulted in the both of them slipping into a permanent slumber, as opposed to having merely one be asleep at the time. Later, she has another idea, but it too is risky. She gathers the townspeople - including Leroy - at her mayoral office and presents a goblet filled with the curse that the Queen used on the Charmings. She explains how it was meant only for one heart, but, should they all share a part of it, she believes it might dilute its power and allow for the prince and princess to awake for good. Leroy draws attention to the word "might", but it's the only shot they've got, and Snow and David's loved ones soon start sipping from the goblet. Eventually, Leroy decides that he could do with a nap and sips from it too, as does everyone else. Soon, the Charmings awaken, but find everyone else asleep. As they panic, though, the now diluted curse wears off, and soon everyone is up and reunited. ("Awake")

Leroy 620
The Black Fairy's curse is here. ("The Song in Your Heart")

It looks as though Emma and Hook's wedding day might not go as planned when the Black Fairy resurfaces; however, Emma is able to temporarily defeat her thanks to the song of her parents and their kingdom which was placed inside her heart years earlier, and her grand marriage to the pirate proceeds. Leroy and the rest of the dwarfs are in attendance, joyously watching the ceremony as the two give their vows, and then the first dance begins. As it does, more singing overcomes the guests as they begin to harmonize about the chance at a "happy beginning" which now is theirs. The dwarfs are all seen merrily dancing with one another, even forming a conga line at one point. However, the song ends in devastation when the clock tower strikes a certain time, and everyone knows what that means. Grumpy is the one to yell it aloud for all to hear - the Black Fairy's curse is here. Black smoke then smashes through the clock's face and begins to envelop the townspeople. ("The Song in Your Heart")
